Wish list: Keep the sleigh on course

Damon Woods isn't asking Santa for much this July. His stocking is already overflowing with pole positions, race wins and championship points. The only thing on his wish list is another clean night.

Santa’s list: Nice

Woods has set the benchmark all season not only in regard to speed but also execution, recording the second-best incident rate (4.6 incidents per start) and giving Race Control little reason to put him on the naughty list. If his domination continues, the biggest present of all - the championship title - will be waiting under the tree come the finale in December.

Wish list: Time for a Yankee swap - consistency for race wins

Vermillion arrived with the biggest stable on the grid, but as the field heads to Austria, two names have emerged as the team's leading title hopes: Ric Kuznetsov and Zak Kerr. Consistent top 10 finishes have kept the pair near the front, but with over 200 points now separating them from Woods, it’s time to turn consistency into victories if they want any chance of Santa leaving the title under their tree.

Elsewhere in the stable, Antal Sabo might be wishing for some stitches and a bandaid or two to stop the bleeding. Back-to-back scoreless rounds have taken him from being right with Kuznetsov and Kerr to outside the top 20.

Santa’s list: Naughty

If Sabo is to turn his form around he will need to do it the hard way. A troublesome evening at Zandvoort saw him exceed the licence point limit along with teammate Josh Purwien. As a result, these Vermillion drivers have a pair of rear of grid starts awaiting them this week.

Wish list: Some shiny new hardware

After technical issues derailed his championship charge at Zandvoort, Rattray-White will be hoping the only lights flickering this round are on the Christmas tree, not his monitor.

Santa’s list: Naughty and nice

Marino Morella sits atop of Santa’s nice list having the best incident rate of any driver this season (4.4 incidents per race). However, not all Eclipse drivers find themselves on the nice list.

Pearce may not feature on teammate Hayden Veld's Christmas card list after their collision at Zandvoort, and he's also landed firmly on the naughty list. Having reached the first licence points threshold across the opening five rounds, means he'll join Vermillion drivers Sabo and Purwien at the back of the grid for Race 1 at the Red Bull Ring.

Wish list: A trip to the top of the podium

Only Woods, Eclipse and Vermillion have unwrapped race wins so far this season, but OPR is looking increasingly likely to crash the Christmas party. With Mackay, Shepherd and Wakefield all collecting podiums in recent rounds, the team's maiden victory feels like a matter of when, not if.

Santa’s list: Nice

Although he doesn’t yet find himself at the pointy end of the championship standings, OPR’s Stef McCartin is near the top of Santa’s nice list with the fourth best incident rate of the field (6.1 incidents per race). He’ll be hoping to start cashing in some of those clean performances this week and add his name to the list of OPR podiums.

Wish list: Hoping there’s room in Santa’s sack for more than one trip to the top of the podium

Red Bull Ring arrives with a little extra Christmas magic this week. The first Super Sprint round of the season means three races, creating more opportunities for a new winner to emerge. This means Santa could leave a race win under several team’s trees this week and along with OPR, Momentum Racing will be hoping there’s one waiting for them following a growing list of podium finishes for the stable.

Santa’s list: Naughty

If there is a race win waiting under the Momentum Racing Christmas tree this week, it’s unlikely to have Jack Widdas’ name on the gift tag. After towing without permission last time out at Zandvoort, he will be yet another driver starting from the rear of grid at Austria.

Wish list: May the resurgence continue

Allan will be hoping the speed that nearly delivered a win at Zandvoort continues and translates into a breakthrough victory this week. Teammate Lazarus' wish might simply read: "No more coal, please!" Strong pace has repeatedly been undone by incidents, leaving him far lower in the standings than his speed deserves.

With both drivers keeping themselves out of major licence point trouble, they'll be hoping their clean record is rewarded with a cleaner run of luck this week.

Wish list: A gift that doesn’t get returned

Eskandari went close to delivering one of the biggest moments of the season at Zandvoort, taking the chequered flag after one of the most enthralling races of the season. Unfortunately, the celebrations were short-lived, with 25 seconds of post-race penalties dropping the young star from first to 26th.

Heading to Austria, the wish is simple: keep the incredible pace, but pair it with the clean execution needed to convert those performances into points.

Santa’s list: Naughty (but with plenty of potential)

Despite being one of the youngest drivers in the field, Eskandari has shown he has the raw speed to compete with the best drivers in the series. However, with licence point penalties in five of his past six races, he too has now reached the first licence point threshold and will start Race 1 at the Red Bull Ring from the rear of the grid.

Wish list: To unwrap their full potential

SSR unveiled an expanded line-up at Zandvoort with Baker now joined by Muir, Mezzomo, Klein and Macleod following the closure of 9INE5IVE SimSport. The new colours immediately proved lucky for Muir, who recorded a season-best pair of top-10 finishes. Red Bull Ring now presents the perfect opportunity for the rest of the stable to unwrap some improved fortunes of their own, with the other SSR drivers all chasing a spot in the championship's top 20.

Santa’s list: Nice

Muir is one of only a handful drivers with a clean record this season having accrued 0 points against his licence and the third best incident rate (6.0 incidents per race). He’ll be hoping for another clean round to keep his name firmly on the nice list and share the spoils with his teammates.

Wish list: A little extra Christmas speed

Jones has been one of the more consistent performers this season, regularly bringing the car home and avoiding the dramas that have impacted others. The next step will be finding the extra tenths needed to move from the midfield fight into regular contention for higher points finishes.

Santa’s list: Nice

The team hasn't been making headlines for the wrong reasons, with Jones quietly delivering consistent results.

Wish list: More than just another stocking stuffer result

It has been a challenging opening half of the season for ODBM, with Caple currently leading the team's championship charge in 27th. As one of only two multi-car teams yet to record a top-10 race finish this season, the team's wish heading to Red Bull Ring is simple: tick that box.

Santa's list: Naughty

Unfortunately, Caple will need to make his climb the hard way. After reaching the licence point threshold, he joins the extensive list of drivers who will start Race 1 from the rear of the grid this week.

Wish list: A festive fightback

Riot Sim Racing are the other multi-car team yet to record a top-10 race result, with Malcolm and Pedersen yet to convert their potential into the kind of finishes they know they are capable of. Red Bull Ring could provide the perfect opportunity. It’s not called a bull ring for nothing and with Pedersen's reputation as one of the more aggressive racers in the field, three shorter races could be the combination Riot needs to finally get their season moving.

Santa's list: Naughty

Pedersen’s attacking style could be a strength this week or it could be his undoing. The Riot driver heads to Austria with the fourth-highest incident rate (12.7 incidents per race). If Riot are to get that elusive top-10 result, Pedersen will need to find the sweet spot between aggression and control.

Wish list: To have their Rudolph moment leading the pack

This trio of single-driver teams are proving just how challenging being a solo driver in a Pro series can be. Hanlin, Lawrance and Lawford find themselves just outside the championship cut line, sitting 24th, 25th and 26th heading into Round 6. But as Rudolph proved, all it takes is one moment to go from outsider to leader of the pack. With three races on offer this week, could one of these solo stars have their own Christmas miracle?

Santa’s list: Naughty

Unfortunately for Hanlin, Santa is unlikely to afford the opportunity of leading the sleigh to him this week. Of the drivers to have participated in at least four rounds so far this season, Hanlin has the unwanted place of sitting first on Santa’s naughty list with 14.1 incidents per race. His record has now caught up with him, earning a rear-of-grid start for Race 1 this week and making his Christmas redemption that little bit harder.

Wish list: All we want for Christmas is a clean race

The fans have been treated to plenty of drama this season…although perhaps not always the kind they were hoping for. Between spins, contact and a growing collection of safety car periods, some races have felt less like a sprint to the finish and more like a test of who can survive the chaos.

The good news? When the field settles down, the quality of racing is clear. But with incidents stacking up across the grid, Race Control has had its hands full - and the consequences have arrived this week with seven drivers starting from the rear of the grid - a festive‑season warning that the licence system is very much alive and that the field needs to sharpen up.

If Santa’s bringing anything to the Red Bull Ring, Race Control will be hoping it’s a little extra patience, awareness and respect - because cleaner racing doesn’t just prevent chaos, it unlocks the potential this championship has to offer.

A Christmas miracle…or will the Grinch strike again?

The first Super Sprint round of the season means Santa has a few more presents to hand out this week. For some teams, it could mean a long-awaited breakthrough victory while for others, simply ending the weekend off the naughty list might be the greatest gift of all.

But one question remains: can anyone stop that Falken Grinch!? Woods has spent the opening half of the season taking almost every present on offer, with poles, wins and championship points already filling his stocking. The rest of the field will be hoping Austria is where they finally wrestle a gift out of his grasp.
